The Meteorology Department says that it had come into an agreement to send the Doppler radar system to America in order to repair it.
News 1st revealed on May 29, that the Doppler radar system imported to the country at a cost of Rs.50 million had been inactive for the past three years with no steps taken to repair the system.
Director General of the Department Lalith Chandrapala said the manufacturer of the system, the Department of Meteorology and the World Meteorological Organisation, had come into an agreement to send the certain parts of the system to America for repairs.
